About us

Hi! I’m Kai, the house cat chef.
Kai Kitchen is the website of Anime Food Recipes, an app for cooking at home the dishes that appear in anime. Here you get the same recipes as in the app, for free: today there are 144 recipes from Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Dr. Stone, Demon Slayer, Studio Ghibli, JoJo, Food Wars, Emiya Gohan, Dungeon Meshi, Campfire Cooking, Restaurant to Another World, Sweetness & Lightning, Yuru Camp, Isekai Izakaya Nobu, Spy × Family and Pokémon, and 57 of them have a vegan version.
How we make the recipes
Every recipe goes through the same five steps:
- We start from a dish that appears on screen. We note the series, season, episode and character, and check it against public episode guides. When the episode is confirmed, the recipe says so; if we can’t confirm it, we don’t say it.
- We turn it into a real recipe. We look for the real dish it’s based on (ramen, onigiri, takoyaki, Japanese curry, dango…) and adapt it to a normal kitchen: ingredients you can find at the supermarket or an Asian grocery, amounts in grams and millilitres, and steps in phases with their timings. Servings can be adjusted and the amounts change automatically.
- We check that it works. All recipes are tested: we check that the amounts, proportions and timings are reliable so the dish turns out right the first time in a home kitchen. We aren’t professional chefs but fans of Japanese cooking and anime, and every recipe is designed so that anyone can make it.
- We prepare the vegan version. We replace the animal ingredients with plant-based equivalents that keep the flavour and texture; for example, a kombu and shiitake dashi instead of dried bonito. The vegan version has its own page, with its own ingredients and steps.
- We say what it is. They’re home adaptations, not official recipes from the series. We don’t make up characters’ favourite foods, quotes or episodes.
If you cook a recipe and something doesn’t add up (a time, an amount, a confusing step), write to us at hola@recetasdeanime.com and we’ll fix it. The date of the last review appears at the end of the recipe.
Who’s behind it
Kai Kitchen and Anime Food Recipes are made by Alberto Lanchas, an independent app developer in Spain. The app is available on Android and iPhone and in 17 languages.
Kai is our mascot: a cat chef who changes outfits for each anime and guides you step by step in the app. The illustrations of Kai and of the dishes are original, created for the app with the help of artificial intelligence tools. We don’t use images from the series.
Series and character names belong to their owners. Kai Kitchen is a fan project and has no official connection with them.
